Big Energy Saving Week in Northampton

Northampton Borough Council, in partnership with the Community Law Service, is supporting Big Energy Saving Week, which begins on Monday 22 October to Saturday, 27 October 2012.
Big Energy Saving Week is a national campaign run by the Energy Saving Trust and Citizens Advice Bureau to help people cut their fuel bills and get all the financial support they are entitled to.
Many more homes will be pushed into fuel poverty this winter because of the recent rise in fuel costs. The Big Energy Saving Week will help people take simple steps to lower their energy bills and put money back in their pockets.
Northampton Borough Council is holding drop-in sessions from 10am to 4pm from Monday, 22 October to Friday, 26 October in the One Stop Shop at the Guildhall.

The Community Law Service is also holding drop-in sessions from 10am to 3pm Monday to Thursday and 10am to 1pm on Friday at their St Giles Street shop.
Energy advisers will be available to check if residents are getting the best deal from their energy company on a comparison website and explain how they might be able to save more money by possibly switching suppliers or changing the way they pay. Plus they’ll also be giving energy saving tips, giving away small energy saving devices and talking about help available to insulate resident’s homes.
Councillor Mary Markham, Cabinet member for housing said:

"We know times are tough and fuel prices have just been put up again so it’s the ideal time to find out if you could be paying less this winter. Come along to the Guildhall next week and speak to an adviser and see what energy saving options are available. You might also be able to get free insulation which could save you hundreds off your fuel bills.”
